How the MatchHighlights editorial team sources highlights, checks the facts, and keeps our match pages accurate and up to date.
Every result, scoreline, goalscorer and match report we publish is cross-checked against at least two independent, authoritative sources before it goes live. In practice that means confirming the details against a combination of ESPN, Sky Sports, BBC Sport, the official competition (FIFA, UEFA or the league) and the clubs' own channels. We never rely on a single source for a result.
Our match write-ups are written to be evergreen and factual: the scorers, the minutes, the final score and the competition round. Where we describe the run of play, we keep it grounded in what actually happened on the pitch.
MatchHighlights does not host or upload any video. Every highlight is embedded directly from YouTube using the official YouTube API Services, and each clip remains hosted on and owned by its respective rights holder. We curate and organise those official uploads so fans can find them quickly by match, league and competition. For the full details of how we use the YouTube API, see our YouTube API Compliance page.
We take accuracy seriously. If we get something wrong, we fix it. When a match page is meaningfully edited after it was first published — for example when we add a full write-up or correct a detail — the page shows an Updated date so you can see it has been revised.
Spotted an error? We welcome reader corrections. Reach us through our Contact page with the page URL and the correction, and we'll review it and update the page if confirmed.
Match pages and guides are curated and edited by the MatchHighlights editorial team — football followers who cover the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the FIFA World Cup. Learn more about us on the About page.

Match write-ups are evergreen: once a game is played, the result does not change, but we correct any error promptly and refresh a page when new context is warranted. Pages that have been meaningfully edited after publication show an “Updated” date.
