Iran Highlights

3 matches · World Cup

Iran, one of Asia's traditional football powerhouses, have qualified for the FIFA World Cup on multiple occasions, including five appearances between 1978 and 2018, and remain the most successful side in AFC Asian Cup history with three continental titles (1968, 1972, 1976). Their sole World Cup victory to date came in a memorable 2-1 win over the United States at France 1998. Star forward Mehdi Taremi and prolific scorer Sardar Azmoun have been prominent figures for Team Melli in recent years.
