Cole Palmer set up Joao Pedro to score after just 31 seconds, giving Chelsea an early lead in Xabi Alonso's first game as manager. Josh King punished a Robert Sanchez error to level for Fulham, but debutant Morgan Rogers restored the visitors' advantage before half-time after a fine Maxence Lacroix cross. Palmer added a third early in the second half, and although Gonzalo Garcia pulled one back for Fulham after another Sanchez mistake, Chelsea held on for a 3-2 win.
