Jack Hinshelwood then struck twice in as many minutes, first with a header and then by pouncing on hesitant Villa defending, before Joao Gomes was sent off for kicking out at Rutter. Villa steadied after the break but could not find a way back, with Brighton finishing the game with a commanding 3.67 expected-goals tally to Villa's 0.31.
