Iraq return to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986, having qualified for the 2026 tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States under coach Graham Arnold. The squad is built around midfielder Amir Al Ammari, winger Ali Jasim and forward Aymen Hussein, with captain Jalal Hassan leading the side. Iraq's best previous global showing came at the 2004 Athens Olympics, where they reached the semi-finals and finished fourth.
